I knew this years ago after watching Dustin Hoffman in Little Big Man

Well, in that admittedly great movie there was also a "contrary" (a person who does everything backwards) which I'm not at all certain is something that existed in real life......so the openly gay character was open to question as to being totally made up.

Besides, those were Sioux. Totally separate tribe. Are you saying that the two-spirit person was recognized and respected among the Sioux as well?
