God's Word -- inerrant of course! -- IV

REV 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

The NUMBER OF THE BEAST! Pretty scary. And throughout history it's been referred to and caused concern. But...

Didja ever drive the old Route 66 through the Southwest U.S. (before interstates)? One of the branches off of it was US 666, the "Devil's Highway." But no sweat, our government went to the trouble (and expense of your taxpayer monies) of renaming it US 491 back in 2003. The believers must have breathed a sigh of relief, tho I'd always enjoyed the trip long before that.

And how about Ronald Reagan? Each of his names, first, middle and last, only contain six letters! Worse, he won a 3-digit lottery, 666, in Maryland on the Sunday after his 1984 re-election. Arghhhhhh! But Nancy came through, and had his address of 666 St. Cloud Road changed to 668. WHEW!

But then, along come scientists who mess up everything. Some Oxford guys used an imaging technique that says it was actually 616. And others also claim that some miniscule manuscript called Codex 2344 says it's 665.

So, God, who could not be wrong, inspired writers to produce an inerrant Word of God that said 666 was IT..... but..... maybe it was 616... or 665...or ? Perhaps in today's terminology he'd be classified as "numerically challenged." ???????

And just to calm things down, www.religioustolerance.org predicted that 06/06/2006 would not produce much. It didn't!. So guess we'll have to wait another thousand years.
